Success is multifarious. It takes doing many things well.
Over four generations of leadership have allowed United Distributors to rise in the ranks to become the largest alcohol distributor in Georgia.
Since our inception in 1940, we've worked to encourage sustained growth and strong connections within the communities around our headquarters, additional locations, and those communities which we serve.
Our History
A timeline from our beginnings to where we stand now.
We started more than 80 years ago with the Hertz and Kugelman families. Currently, fourth-generation members Michael Hertz and Amy Agami act as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and President of the Douglas J. Hertz Family Foundation, Inc. respectively.

1940
Fulton Distributors is founded by Jennings Hertz Sr. and Edgar Kugelman, later becoming United Distributors. Initially, the company is started by the cousin of Hertz Sr., Max Kahn, who later requests Hertz Sr. take over after he is drafted and leaves for service.

1978
Doug Hertz joins United, grandson of Jennings Hertz Sr. and son of Jennings Hertz Jr.

1984
Doug Hertz takes over as president of United.

1992
Hertz family buys out Kugelman family's interests in the company.

1999
Company headquarters moves from Atlanta to Smyrna.
